Black Creek Park AL Black Creek Park is one of the best kept secrets of Fultondale. It's rarely crowded, easy to find and fun to explore. There's a lot of nature to soak in and open grassy places to set up nice, relaxing picnics. For the more traditional route, there are picnic tables for you to enjoy.
Noccalula Falls Park AL Located in Gadsden, Noccalula Falls Park is a very unique place that's in the middle of a city. The sound of the 90-foot falls is soothing and inspiring. The 280-acre park features picnic tables, botanical gardens, campgrounds and much more.
Monte Sano State Park

Railroad Park

Langdon Park
Mobile, AL
AL Langdon Park is a lovely tree-shaded park in Mobile, Alabama, with a bridge across a small lake leading to the Art Museum. This is a beautiful place for a walk, especially on Sunday afternoons when the Society for Creative Anachronism is out in full force, practicing their sword fighting. The grounds of the Mobile Museum of Art, linked by a bridge across a pretty little lake, are especially beautiful with open-air sculptures of all kinds.

AL This state park has acres of beautiful hiking trails. There are great overviews of the city from on top of the mountain, and lots of places to eat a picnic. Monte Sano State Park is peaceful and serene, has great views of the city, and is fun for the whole family.
Moon Lake - Idle Hour Park
Phenix City, AL
AL This is a perfect spot for a picnic. It has a playground, a pond where you can feed ducks, trash cans, a walking trail, and a lot of grassy areas where you can have a picnic. With lots of room, a nice view and a variety of things for kids too do, the park is a fun place to visit.
Sharon Johnston Park
New Market, AL
AL Sharon Johnston Park is located to the northeast of Huntsville, and provides a delightful atmosphere for days outside in Madison County. The park features a variety of possibilities including picnics, swimming, fishing, playgrounds, a shooting range and campgrounds. It is the location of the annual Scottish Festival as well.
Big Spring Park

AL As the name suggests, the park features a large lake fed by a spring. It is located in the center of the city of Huntsville, and is where many events and festivals are held. In addition to hosting the Concerts in the Park, the Big Spring Jam in the fall, and the Panoply Festival in the spring, the park lies adjacent to the Civic Center and Huntsville Art Museum. The lake is full of ducks and fish, and you can always find parents and children feeding both.
Petit Jean State Park AR Petit Jean State Park is one of Arkansas' most popular family vacation destinations and for good reason—it has some of the state's best picnic spots. There are tables that overlook the lake and others with grills. It's a fun place to take the family picnicking.
Black Hills Back Country Byway AZ The 21-mile byway is a gorgeous area that's a journey into the past in that it was inhabited by Native Americans long ago and is a prime place to see the unique geology. There's so much to do around there and the landscape makes it feasible to set up a picnic where you want. Still, there are dedicated picnic areas along the road—any of which are great.

It's a ways off the main road, so it's quiet and usually doesn't have too many people there. You can stop for lunch and then go for a nice walk around the park and even feed the ducks. The open areas make for great places to have a romantic evening or go star watching.

You can park close to the entrance and have a short pinic right inside the gates surrounded by towering trees and greenery or you can make a moderate hike out of it and go up to the waterfall and have a lovely picnic there. The view over the hill is awesome, especially since you get to see a beautiful view of the city. You can also avoid the hill and just walk along at the foot of it as it traverses back farther and farther. Or you can follow the stream and enjoy the shade on the warm summer days. Cherry blossoms, horses, lizards—it is large enough that during the week days when it is free to park and explore there are so few people that it feels almost like just you and nature in Los Angeles which is a definite rarity.

National Sculpture Garden DC The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden is only about 15 years old, but it's quickly shot up the ranks in terms of great picnic spots. Aside from the sculptures, you can time your picnic to coincide with one of the jazz events to hear amazing music. For food, there's a cafe and plenty of vendors, but you can always bring your own and set up a nice picnic in the garden.

This spot also offers access to a playground if you have kids with you and a covered gazebo that can be rented from the ranger station if you plan on having a larger gathering of people. There is plenty of parking and it has a restroom within a five minute walk. The area as a whole also has access to a bait/snack shop and there is a place to shower nearby so you can rinse off after swimming.

There is also free wi-fi and reasonably good cell phone reception. The best part of this spot is just south of the park because it includes a part of the White River and a small waterfall. There are numerous picnic tables and barbecue grills along the riverbank and a few overlooking the river. The diversity of picnic facilities accommodates both persons with mobility limitations and persons with a sense of adventure.
